Stitched for the Occasion: From Munich to the Far East

The Bavarian giants have always paid attention to detail across every facet of the game. German precision came to the fore once again this time.

For both friendly matches in Asia, FC Bayern is presenting exclusive special shirt designs which are each deeply rooted in the local culture and are intended to turn the jerseys into good luck charms. The shirt printing was designed in collaboration with HYPEBEAST and adidas.

Jeju design

The jersey printing that’s been designed specially for Jeju will be worn by the team in their match on the island, and is available from 1 August exclusively at the Pop-Up Stores on Jeju. The design comes from Korean artist Dohee Kwon, who deliberately chose to steer clear of typical Korean motifs.

“I wanted to showcase something that truly belongs only to Jeju,” explains Dohee Kwon. She therefore focused on the traditional paper craft ‘Gime’, which exists only on Jeju and is closely linked to shamanistic rituals. Building on this, she created a serene visual world featuring sun and moon motifs as well as graphic shapes reminiscent of the delicate paper cutouts of Gime. “Once it was clear that I was working with Gime, the rest of the design flowed quite naturally.”

Hong Kong design

FC Bayern will also take to the field with special printing on the back of their shirts at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on 7 August – this is available from now exclusively in Greater China at the All Star Partner Stores and FC Bayern Pop-Up Stores. The design is the work of local artist Kristopher HO, who examined ancient Chinese aesthetics in depth and deliberately avoided stereotypical motifs such as landmarks or neon signs.

“I wanted to avoid elements that have already been overused and instead bring something new to the table – something very local that’s often overlooked,” says HO.

As part of their tenth Audi Summer Tour (1–8 August 2026), Bayern took on two sides across Asia:

  • Jeju SK FC - on 4 August, beneath the skies of Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, South Korea. Bayern came away with a 2-1 win.

  • Aston Villa - on 7 August, at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong, in the "Audi Football Summit" showcase. Bayern once again edged it 2-1, with goals from Minjae Kim and Luis Díaz sealing the night .

It marked the club's fifth journey through Asia, and a homecoming of sorts too — Jeju SK stands as Bayern's partner club under the "Red&Gold" alliance, making that opening clash feel less like a friendly and more like a reunion .

Kudos once again to Bayern. We want to see even more details like this in the world of football.
