THE STORY
The 2015/16 Paris Saint-Germain home shirt represents the peak of Zlatan Ibrahimović’s era in Paris. Its deep navy base, bold red central stripe bordered in white, and Fly Emirates sponsor brought the classic Hechter design into the modern game. Wearing the number 10, Ibrahimović scored 50 goals in all competitions and helped PSG win all four domestic trophies, making it a fitting symbol of his final season in France.
The shirt also acquired a deeper meaning following the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015. In a special edition worn after the attacks, the usual Fly Emirates sponsor was replaced with “JE SUIS PARIS”, a message of solidarity with the victims and the city. The shirt has no officially established nickname, but “The King’s Last Dance” captures its significance: a symbol of Zlatan’s final act in Paris before his departure in 2016, when he famously declared, “I came like a king, left like a legend.”
The special “Je Suis Paris” shirt was worn by PSG across three matches in November 2015, against Lorient, Malmö and Troyes, following the terrorist attacks in Paris. It was not released for regular commercial sale, making match-worn examples particularly rare and highly sought after by collectors. Beyond its scarcity, the shirt carries a significance that goes far beyond football: it represents a moment when the game became a platform for collective remembrance.
