Je Suis Paris

2015 — 2015

THE STORY

“Je Suis Paris” - French for “I Am Paris” - became a symbol of solidarity following the terrorist attacks that struck Paris on 13 November 2015, killing 130 people. Paris Saint-Germain adopted the message as a tribute to the victims and the city, displaying it on the team’s shirts across three consecutive matches.

On 21 November, away against Lorient, the message appeared beneath the club crest while the Fly Emirates sponsor remained in place. Four days later, against Malmö in the Champions League, and again at home against Troyes on 28 November, the tribute took centre stage: “JE SUIS PARIS” replaced the main sponsor across the front of the shirt.

PSG’s other commercial partners also agreed to remove their logos for the tribute. The special sponsor-free shirts were not released for regular commercial sale, making match-worn examples particularly rare among collectors. More than a decade later, the shirt remains a reminder of a moment when football stepped beyond the game to express grief, unity and solidarity with Paris.
